Find Accredited Pharmacy Technician Schools in California

When you’re looking for pharmacy analyst schools, you’ll want to make sure the schools you choose are accredited schools. Accreditation is not only a demonstration of a school’s quality, but it’s also important if you plan to get certified. American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) is the main accrediting agency for pharmacy analyst programs. As a pharmacy specialist student, you’ll complete pharmacy-related classes, listen to lectures and complete an internship at a local pharmacy or hospital. Pharmacy analyst programs take from 1 to 2 years to complete and may result in certificates or degrees.

How to Get Certified in California

The California Board of Pharmacy requires their pharmacy analysts be licensed, but they do not require certification. Pharmacy analysts must be licensed prior to working in a pharmacy. The requirements for licensure include:

  • Must be a high school graduate
  • Must pass a criminal background check and submit fingerprints
  • Must complete an approved pharmacy specialist program or pass the Pharmacy Specialist Certification Board (PTCB) exam
  • Must send in completed application with required fee

Certification, which is voluntary, can be obtained by passing the PTCB certification examination. Continuing education is required to maintain certification. Employers often prefer, and sometimes require, certification in their pharmacy specialists.
