As a pharmacy analyst you will assist pharmacists in measuring, packaging, and delivering medication in a variety of settings, from positions with the federal government to employment at college or university pharmacies. Being able to help others and be a part of the medical industry is exciting, and there are many opportunities available. But if you're looking to be a pharmacy analyst in Georgia, you might be wondering where to start. Below is a brief guide to finding an accredited school, how to become certified, and what you can expect to earn as a pharmacy analyst in Georgia.
For most prospective pharmacy experts, it's not finding a school that poses a challenge; it's finding an accredited school. Only accredited schools and programs will be recognized by the state board, so it's important to seek out education from an accredited source. To help you do this, the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists has developed a searchable directory of all the accredited pharmacy expert programs in each state. Additionally, each school name is associated with a directory page that provides the contact information for the program director and a bit more about the program itself. You can also click locations on a map to find the schools closest to you.
How to Get Certified in Georgia
In order to register with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy, which you must do in order to work as a pharmacy analyst in the state, you must submit a $100 non-refundable application fee, show proof that you are at least 17 years old, and be either enrolled in high school or be able to show proof of your diploma or GED. You must also obtain a criminal background search, and if you are already working at a pharmacy in another capacity, it is important to include the pharmacy registration number on your application. While George is unique in that it does not required enthusiasts to be certified, which you can do by passing the Pharmacy Specialist Certification Board exam (PTCB), in order to register, it is highly recommended that you do so. Should you choose to obtain certification, the PTCB is the only certification recognized by the state of Georgia.
